July 4th: A View From 2020

The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most unsettling, tumultuous years in our lifetime. As we approach the celebration of the 4th of July, we will do so while wearing masks and observing “social distancing” rules. We will stand farther away from each other while filling our plates and spread out to watch the fireworks. There may be a sense of anxiousness and uncertainty about our future, but the truth is, the United States and the World have overcome challenging times in the past and we will again.

Two hundred and forty-four years ago, a group of men were anxious and uncertain about the future of this new experiment called the United States of America. It was July 2nd, 1776 and members of the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence. Two days later, on July 4th, 1776 delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, which had been drafted by Thomas Jefferson. John Adams along with Benjamin Franklin were among others who were immersed in finding a way to foster freedom and provide citizens of this new Republic the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This new government would declare that all men are created equal, a sentiment that would take another 90 years to be codified into law, and generations to adopt.

Check-6 is a veteran-owned company, whose members have been highly trained and work every day to Pay it Forward by improving the lives of those with whom we partner. We know the meaning of sacrifice in order to secure freedom and independence. It has been an honor to serve and like so many in history, we look forward to leading through today’s challenges and into a brighter future.

Blessings on you and your families this Independence Day!
